Year 5 Cook Up a Storm with Calne Town Mayor Cllr Robert MacNaughton!
We were delighted to welcome Calne Town Mayor Cllr Robert MacNaughton to St Margaret's earlier this week. He enjoyed a tour of our campus and then joined Year 5's cookery session with Vaughan's Kitchen Cookery School!
Over the last few Wednesdays, school has been filled with the most wonderful aromas as Year 5 have learnt to bake alongside Peter Vaughan from
Vaughan's Kitchen Cookery School
.
They made delicious pizzas using Spelt flour. The children learnt how the Romans brought this variety of flour to Wiltshire, where the chalky nature of the soil lent itself perfectly to the growing of Spelt... in fact, the flour they used came from our very own North Wessex Downs!
A wonderful opportunity for cross-curricular learning!
