St Margaret's places great importance on links with parents and enjoys the support of an active Parents’ Association.
All parents belong to the Association, with representatives for each year group elected annually onto the Committee Team at the AGM at the start of each academic year. The representatives act as a voice for all the parents in their year on general matters and arrange events such as coffee mornings and social evenings, as well as ensuring that all new parents are made welcome.
In addition to supporting key school events (Harvest Festival, Spring Concerts and Pantomimes), the PA team coordinate various fundraising activities including cake and plant sales, the Christmas Present Sale (Secret Santa), Christmas Raffle and the St Margaret’s Tea Towel featuring a self-portrait from every child in the school!
Money raised from the activities benefits the children directly, as the funds are invested in many annual commitments such as Harvest Festival altar display, the School Christmas Party bags, stage make-up for the annual Prep school productions and the End of Term Party & Summer Fair.
On an annual basis PA funds are then invested in larger purchases such as playground equipment, musical instruments, a vast array of new and exciting reading books and Kindles to support the literacy programme, a suite of iPads for each classroom and the recently built outdoor classroom ‘Evie’s Place’ – all the embodiment of several years of time, support and kind generosity of the PA and St Margaret’s families.
Parents are welcome to join the Committee in organising the activities, baking or to come along and meet families from the different year groups.
