As a school we feel it is very important to be able to play a role in helping others to improve their lives, as well as gaining a better understanding of how people live and work together. Our ultimate aim is for our children to have the skills and understanding required to enable them to become contributing members of a caring society.
The staff and children at St Margaret’s are proactive in their contribution to the life of the local community. Each academic year the school chooses a local charity to support – this year we have chosen Wiltshire Mind, an independent local mental health charity based in Melksham. Last year we chose to support Rainbow Trust and raised over £5,400. One of the main fundraising events, A Rainbow Run, managed to raise over £2,600 despite taking place in lockdown!
In previous years, we have been delighted to help Evie's Gift, CALM, Wiltshire Sight, Julia's House, Hop, Skip and Jump, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Swindon Young Carers. We also regularly support both the Devizes and Calne Food Banks.
We also work in partnership with a range of local schools and are always interested in developing new partnerships with the local community.
Further afield, through various fund-raising initiatives, including sponsored walks, cake stalls and fun activities, the school has raised money and provided stationery and educational equipment for Mukuri School in Kenya.
