Wiltshire Mind Charity Fundraiser
Pupils at a Calne school got into the festive spirit to raise money for charity by showing how well they know their teachers.
Pupils of St Margaret’s Prep had to adapt their usual fundraiser to meet coronavirus restrictions but that did not stop them dressing to impress in their favourite Christmas jumpers.
The red and green themed Mufti Day held on Friday also included a quiz organised by the school council rather than the usual stalls and sideshows.
Questions included guessing how many chocolate coins teacher Sarah Harlock could eat in one minute and knowing what is the favourite Christmas treat of headmaster Luke Bromwich.
All money raised from the Mufti Day and quiz will go to the school’s charity of the year, Wiltshire Mind. Mr Bromwich said: “We had a fantastic fun Friday and we are delighted to have raised over £360 for Wiltshire Mind in our first fundraiser of the year.
“We had a lot of debate about who we should to be our charity of the year. But we decided to help Wiltshire Mind whose work supports people who are experiencing mental health problems or emotional distress.
“They are a local charity based in Melksham and it seemed appropriate to support their work during these particularly unsettling times for society.”
