Reception Farm Visit

Last Friday afternoon, pupils in Reception were very excited to take their first trip in the school minibus to visit Kingsplay Farm, Heddington.

The children enjoyed a tour of the farm, led by Farmers (and St Margaret's parents!) Mr and Mrs Tyler. They were captivated by the cows and the calves and enjoyed discussions about how cows grow and 'cow calculations' - when they were challenged to use their counting strategies to estimate and count the cows. The children learnt that moving objects are always a challenge to count!

They also observed the calves being fed and a session in the milking parlour - what a fabulous afternoon out!

Thank you to Mr and Mrs Tyler for inviting the children - we are looking forward to other year groups experiencing life on the farm in the forthcoming weeks and months!
