Forest School and Outdoor Learning forms an important part of life at St Margaret’s Prep. Pupils from Nursery to Year 1 enjoy weekly Forest School sessions. Throughout the rest of the school, teachers are consistently using the amazing outdoor spaces we have available to take our pupils’ learning outside. Over the last year Mrs Perkins and Mrs Worsey have been working hard behind the scenes to take their professional understanding of Forest School to the next step and they have both now qualified in the Level 3 Certificate in Forest School Programme Leadership. The aim of the qualification is to develop an understanding of the principles and ethos of Forest School and to become Forest School Programme Leaders. Their studies led them to learning more about the importance of outdoor environments for learning and development, the effective planning of Forest School sessions as well as the practical skills required to deliver Forest School.
