Happy New Year of the Rabbit!

This week in the Early Years, children celebrated the Lunar New Year with a Chinese banquet - what better way to see in the Year of the Rabbit!

The children have also enjoyed learning about The Great Race and the animals in the Zodiac this week.  They have been playing in their own Chinese Restaurant and even made their own hats for their feast.  On Wednesday afternoon, they sat down together to enjoy noddles, spring rolls and prawn crackers - everyone was very good at trying each thing on their plate and the spring rolls prooved a favourite!

Earlier in the week, we also welcomed students from UV (Year 11) at St Mary's, who gave a presentation in assembly about Chinese New Year traditions. The presentation included teaching our children how to greet each other and say '新年快樂/新年快乐' 'Happy New Year', alongside a brilliant performance of a special song by LIV (Year 7) students.  We finished with a quiz- all the winners were awarded a prize of a red packet containing a chocolate coin, which symbolizes good wishes and luck for the new year ahead.
