Last Friday, 7th October, the school came together in St Mary’s Chapel to give thanks and celebrate Harvest Festival. In a service led by Father Johnathan, pupils sang and read beautifully.
The service started with a procession of pupils delivering food donations to sit by the autumnal display – the perfect backdrop for our Harvest celebrations. Over the course of last week, parents donated a huge amount of food and necessary supplies to support families in our community.
Abigail and Henry introduced the service and Year 3 and 4 pupils read the poem Autumn Time. Our Pre-Prep choir sang Harvest Stew with great gusto and Alfred, Alice and Sophie in Year 6 gave their Harvest reflections which focussed on how fortunate we are to live surrounded by abundant beauty where we see the crops growing.
Our Prep Choir treated us to an uplifting performance of Let’s Harvest and our Chamber Choir performed a version of All Things Bright and Beautiful before our Prep Performers gave us a brilliant show with Harvest Samba. Year 5 and 6 pupils then presented their Harvest Anagrams.
Father Jonathan asked children to reflect on our ‘Gifts from the Head, Heart and Hands’ and to be grateful for all that we have and can offer.
It was a festive and uplifting service to end our week of support for Calne Food bank. Alongside our donations, we raised a fantastic £274.50 with our mufti day, which will no doubt help those in need within our community.
