Year 5 Cyanotype workshop with Bloemen and Blue.

On Thursday 6th June, Year 5 were lucky enough to enjoy a Cyanotype workshop here in school with visiting artist Libby. They had an amazing time learning all about the Cyanotype process.

Using one of the oldest photographic techniques, that combines Art, Science and History of photography, the pupils created some beautiful blue prints and asked visiting artist Libby thoughtful and insightful questions about her artwork and her career as an artist.

‘Cyan’ is derived from the Greek word ‘cyan’, meaning ‘dark blue impression’. With Cyanotypes, many variables mean there is an unpredictability to the results, and some of the best results appear as ‘happy accidents’ – making them all original and totally unique to the artist!
